Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Canada

June 5, 2021 The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič, titular of Corbavia, as apostolic nuncio in Canada. Archbishop Jurkovič has served until now as Holy See Permanent Observer at the United Nations and Specialised Agencies in Geneva and at the World Trade Organisation, and Holy See Representative at the International Organisation for Migration. Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič was born in Kocevje (Slovenia) on 10 June 1952. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1977. He is hinged in Ljubljana. He has a degree in Canon Law. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on May 1, 1984, and subsequently worked at the Pontifical Representations in Korea, Colombia, Russia and at the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State. He knows Croatian, Italian, Spanish, English, German, French and Russian.
